The Parents Guide to UK School Entry

Written for parents in India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and the Caribbean: how cricket can open the door to a leading UK independent school, what it really costs, what schools look for, and how to start.

The five-step pathway

  1. 1. Free introduction call

We discuss your child's age, academic profile, cricket experience and family budget, and tell you honestly whether a UK pathway is realistic.

  2. 2. Player and academic assessment

You share match footage, batting/bowling data and recent school reports. We verify them and build a profile UK schools trust.

  3. 3. School shortlist

We match your child to schools whose academic level, cricket programme, location and fee structure genuinely fit — not just the best-known names.

  4. 4. Trials and interviews

We arrange trials, coach conversations and entrance assessments, in person in the UK or remotely where a school allows it.

  5. 5. Offer, award and enrolment

We help you compare offers and awards, then support visa, guardianship and arrival so the first term starts smoothly.

Questions parents ask most

Do UK independent schools offer cricket scholarships to overseas pupils?

Yes. Many UK independent schools offer sport, all-rounder or academic awards that can be combined with means-tested bursaries. Awards vary school by school, typically covering a percentage of fees rather than the full cost, and they are always tied to academic suitability as well as playing ability.

What age should my child apply?

The most common entry points are 11+, 13+ and 16+ (Sixth Form). Cricket pathways work best from 13+ and 16+, where boarding, coaching and fixture programmes are strongest. Start conversations 12–18 months before the intended entry date.

What does it cost to board at a UK independent school?

Full boarding fees at the schools we work with generally range from around £13,000 to £19,000 per term, plus guardianship, flights, insurance and uniform. Scholarships and bursaries can reduce this significantly for the right pupil.

What do the schools look for?

Genuine playing ability verified on video and in trials, a good academic record, sound English, strong character references and a family that understands boarding life. Criced verifies all of this before a profile reaches a school.

What paperwork is involved?

School application forms, past school reports, an entrance assessment, English testing where required, a Child Student visa (CAS issued by the school), and a UK guardian. Criced guides families through each stage.

Which countries do you work with?

India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, the Caribbean, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. Our site is available in English, Hindi, Urdu, Bengali, Sinhala and Tamil.
