UK Boarding Schools with Cricket for Caribbean Families

For parents in Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, Guyana and across the Caribbean who want an academic pathway to match their child's cricket.

What families in West Indies need to know

Academic fit

CSEC and CAPE qualifications are recognised by UK schools and align reasonably with GCSE and A Level. English-language teaching removes one of the biggest hurdles overseas applicants face.

Cricket background

Caribbean players bring natural athleticism and hard-wicket technique. UK schools look for evidence of temperament in longer-format cricket alongside raw ability.

Timing your application

Caribbean and UK academic years broadly align, so 13+ and 16+ September entry works cleanly. Start around a year ahead.

Travel and access

Direct flights from Bridgetown, Port of Spain and Kingston to Gatwick and Heathrow make term-time travel straightforward.

Boys and girls, 11 to 18

Criced works with sons and daughters alike. Girls' cricket in UK independent schools has grown faster than any other sport, with dedicated coaching, fixtures and pathways into the professional women's game.

Questions from Caribbean families

Do UK schools recognise CSEC and CAPE?

Yes. Both are understood by UK admissions teams. CAPE students typically enter at 16+ into Sixth Form, and CSEC students at 14–16 depending on age and profile.

How often would my child come home?

Most Caribbean boarders travel home at Christmas, Easter and summer, staying with a UK guardian or on school programmes during shorter exeats.

Is cricket coaching year-round in UK schools?

Yes. Indoor winter programmes, strength and conditioning, and a full summer fixture list mean development continues all year.
